OXYGEN ADVANTAGEâ„¢
If you already know that you would like to book on an Oxygen Advantage program, contact Graham here to arrange your start date.

Annette's realisations about the relevance and importance of correct functional breathing also motivated Graham to delve into the science and to become certified as an Oxygen Advantage™ Functional Breathing Instructor so that he is able to provide people with the breathing skills that will help them to perform at their best.

So what is the Oxygen Advantage™ and what are the benefits?

"The Oxygen Advantage™ offers the potential to transform everything you thought you knew about your body, your performance and your health"
Patrick McKeown

The Oxygen Advantage™ Functional Breathing program was created by Patrick McKeown, an international expert on breathing and sleep.
The program addresses the following three key dimensions of correct, functional and efficient breathing:
-
Biochemistry
-
Cadence
-
Biomechanical

Through learning and applying the techniques covered in the program, you are likely to experience:
-
Improved health
-
Better sleep
-
Reduced anxiety and breathlessness
-
Improved posture
-
Enhanced focus and concentration
-
Increased fitness and sports performance

For anyone who has felt restricted, or has shied away from physical exercise owing to breathlessness and muscle fatigue, learning correct functional breathing can be a game changer. Graham knows this from personal experience. You can find out more about the differences changed breathing habits have made for him in a blog post here.

The improved performance that comes through applying the functional breathing techniques is akin to that seen in athletes who train at altitude. It literally changes your physiology. In the classes that Graham provides, he will explain the science behind this and help you to incorporate the exercises in your daily life and at a pace which fits your individual situation.

The program is suitable and perfectly safe for the vast majority of people, and it can be adapted for those who suffer from panic attacks, anxiety, heart disease and severe asthma. It is not suitable for women in their first trimester of pregnancy.

How is the Program Delivered?

Training sessions are typically once a week. In most cases there are 4 one hour sessions, but more sessions can be added if required, according to individual needs. The rationale for spacing the training sessions weekly is to allow time for the techniques to become habitual and to allow changes to take place and progress to be assessed. Since we are all individuals, it’s normal that we will respond in different ways to breathing adaptations, and some fine tuning may be required.

About Booking

The charge is €199 for a standard 4 part program. Any additional sessions are priced at €25 each.

Start dates for your 4 part standard training program are arranged by contacting Graham directly. The subsequent 3 sessions, typically over the course of consecutive weeks, will be arranged with Graham. They may be on the same day of the week and at the same time as the start date. We will, however, allow for some flexibility in our mutual planning for the following reasons:

-
One party may not be available at the precise time suggested so a new time / day for that session may need to be found.
-
It may be desirable to extend the training period, especially once week 2 is completed, without increasing the number of sessions. This provides extra practice time with the exercises and potentially more feedback (for you and for us) in respect of any progress you're hoping to achieve.

If you have any questions or if you think it's possible that you may need one or more additional sessions, e.g. if you're healing from Chronic Fatigue / Long Covid, then don't hesitate to get in touch. If appropriate, we can arrange a brief zoom call with you to discuss your requirements.

Graham’s wife and business partner Annette Henry is also a Certified Buteyko Breathing Instructor, and she applies many of the same techniques as those employed by Graham. Her particular focus is on anxiety, sleep issues, female breathing, chronic fatigue and post covid breathlessness. If this is relevant to you, or if you simply prefer to work with a female coach you can contact her here.
